Frequently Asked Questions

What age can my child start?

Your child can being their journey with us at Little Tui when they turn 2 and stay until they leave for school. Please contact us for details about the enrolment process and our settling in program.

What’s Included?

  • StoryPark - We use Storypark an online learning App, to capture the precious moments in your child's Early Childhood journey with us. Your child's kaiako will share photos and learning stories, and use it as a way to communicate important messages to whaanau. This is free for whaanau and is super easy to use. We will set you up with a login when you enroll with us.

  • Learning Journals - Alongside our online platform, we also use paper learning journals as well. This is a taonga (a treasure) that your child will take with them when they leave our centre. This is one of the most treasured pukapuka (books) we have at Little Tui, and the tamariki love nothing more than sitting down and flicking through the pages of their learning journal, as they follow along their journey with us at Little Tui.

  • Excursions into the community - Our tamariki enjoy heading out into the community once a term. This is often based and planned around an interest that has been identified by the team, and follows our child-led local curriculum.

  • Full set of Rain Jackets - we believe in the saying that 'there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing'. We also believe passionately in how much nature benefits our tamariki's wellbeing, so we encourage outdoor play in all weather. We don't want clothing to be a barrier so have invested in rain jackets for all tamariki to use while at Little Tui.

Do you do 20 hours?

Yes, Little Tui Early Childhood Centre is a government approved ECE Centre. The Government subsidies the cost of children aged 3-5 years to attend early childhood education (ECE) for up to 20 hours a week. This funding is called 20 Hours ECE and is available for up to six hours a day for children.

What do I need
to bring?

We provide rain jackets, wipes, sunscreen and bedding if your child requires a sleep. We ask whaanau to provide kai, drink bottles, nappies (if needed), a snuggly for sleep (if needed) and a change of clothes appropriate for the season. Please ensure all clothes are named.
